Did anyone watch the last Hairy Bikers episode last night?

I didn’t expect to be in tears over a cooking show. The ending was wonderful but also incredibly sad especially seeing the devastation in Si’s eyes.

It was touching to see how they have absolutely no problem with showing genuine affection for each other. A wonderful example of everything male friendship should be.

it in no way compares to Dave’s family and friends’ loss but I’m really going to miss watching them go on adventures together.

Yes, it was a fitting tribute to Dave and a celebration of their years together. I’m sure they both knew it was the last time.

Thanks for this thread, I haven’t watched them recently but I used to love the Hairy Bikers. I’ll have a watch later.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 20/03/2024 10:03

Is it the Go West series?

CanapeJane · 20/03/2024 10:04

Is it the Go West series?

It is. It was the last episode last night but the whole series is probably on Iplayer.

Thank you, I’ve not seen this series, but I have watched plenty of theirs before so I will make a point of watching it. Bless them both 😔

goldenlloyd · 20/03/2024 10:35

I've not seen much Hairy Bikers programmes really but watched this as some of the episodes are local to me or places I know well. What a lovely, warm series it has been, and so moving in hindsight.

I haven't watched the last one yet so thanks for the reminder. Might have to stock up on tissues first!

Itscatsallthewaydown · 20/03/2024 10:36

No, I don’t think I will either. I think I’d find it too upsetting.

LIZS · 20/03/2024 10:36

Definitely a tear jerker. I'm glad it was not reedited as it showed a poignant note of optimism. Amazing he had had treatment while filming, which explains some of the ups and downs,

goldenlloyd · 20/03/2024 10:43

Yes LIZS, I wonder if Dave was conscious of a lot of the language he used through the episodes, as it really stands out now - life-affirming gratitude in everything he did. Probably just turns of phrase, or simply his nice personality, but all added a much greater poignancy to the series overall.

Thank you
I’m going to try and watch it tonight

Go West was a fitting tribute to their longlasting friendship and their love of food and travelling together. Although Dave was clearly frail when filming, his positivity, kindness and grace shone through. Si and Dave's family have lost a great friend.

CanapeJane · 20/03/2024 19:01

Thanks, BeguilingEyes. I didn’t know that podcast existed and I’ll definitely listen to the episode with Dave.

Yes I did watch the programme, very emotional. RIP Dave.

Attackofthekillereggs · 21/03/2024 10:29

@CanapeJane The podcast series is excellent and she has some very interesting guests, but there are a lot of eating noises!!! The Dave Myers one was repeated a couple of weeks ago, so you shouldn't need to search back too far.
