Explorer vs Scout badges. Confused!

Explorers have sent home a clutch of hexagonal badges with red edges. I’m about to sew them on - but the Explorer badges on the images online all show round blue ish badges. Are they actually Explorer badges or are they leftover from Scouts?

Where do I sew them please?

Are they challenge awards?

The hexagonal ones are the challenge badges. Go on right hand chest
Round are activity badges

This is Cubs but placement is the same. If your group uses OSM you can see this in the badge section

@LostMySocks @Seeline They are challenge badges, yes… but I’ve checked OSM and they aren’t there. 😅

Don’t want to waste time sewing them on if I don’t need to in case they’ve been given to him as a mistake?

I’m a cubs leader. It’s more important to me that everyone in scouting feels proud of their achievements and displays their badges with pride rather than every badge being meticulously placed according to a complicated set of rules that even we can’t keep up with!

he’s earned those badges, they are his regardless of the section he earned them in so put them on and show them off with pride!

if you really think they were supposed to be given to him in scouts instead of explorers though just check with his leader who issued them - we follow OSM which tells us which badges each person has earned during their time in the section so it’s easy for them to check and advise

Has your DC earned their Chief Scout Gold Award, which they would aim to do at end of Scouts, but could finish off in Explorers?

These are leftover from scouts.

You can add stages badges to the explorer uniform and chief scouts gold.

But the rest should be left off. Time for a camp blanket?
