Swapping hairdressers but staying at the same salon

How awkward is this likely to be?

I’ve been going there for about a year. My hairdresser is ok but I have a couple of niggles with how she does my hair. I’ve heard one of the other hairdressers is really good so I’ve booked with them. How am I going to brazen this out when my ex hairdresser sees me sitting in a chair with her colleague doing my hair?!

Do I tell her if she asks me that I don’t think she’s great at doing layers and she didn’t do my hair how I asked her one time before a big night out? Or just tell her I fancied a change?

Could you not just say she didn't have an appointment at the time you needed so you just asked the receptionist if anyone else was free to do it?

I have done this before, its not a big deal! she will likely think she was overbooked which is why you went with her colleague. I never had anyone asking me why I booked my hair with someone else :/

Is there a day the original hairdresser doesn’t work but the better hairdresser does?

How close are you with the original hairdresser? Personally I couldn’t do it to be honest - too awkward!!

I would do this.

Ooh very awkward. I wouldn’t do it.

I don't see a problem, if you'd been going to her for 5-10 years then I could have seen it being awkward. Don't give it another thought, you could say you needed that specific time & date and that's who the receptionist booked you in with but I really wouldn't worry.

Yes I think my ex hairdresser doesn’t work Monday so I’ve booked a Monday for my first appointment with the new one but I’m not going to be able to do Monday every time Hopefully she’s not bothered.
