Where to go in Dorset

Need a little break, just me and the dog.

Fancy Dorset, please give me your ideas of places to stay! (Dorset is a big county - and prices vary wildly from Lyme Regis to Swanage)

Doesn't necessarily need to be near a beach...

Place to stay needs to be dog friendly and relatively cheap!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Look along Jurassic coast ..Poole towards Lyme Regis
Some of the smaller villages ..pubs with rooms maybe
Are you thinking hotel or cottage type ?

If you’re not bothered about being near a beach, prices drop considerably the further inland you go. Draw a line on a map about 5 miles inland from the coast and have a google. It’s all beautiful with plenty of good walks.

We've stayed in Wareham. Nice walks along the river. Easy to get to the coast.

We always stay in West Bay.

Hi, we run a little glamping site in Dorset - including a shepherds hut that’s Dog Friendly! We’re up near Sherborne, it’s a gorgeous part of the countryside and only about an hour from the sea. If you’re interested, our site is called At Goathill Farm 😊

Purbeck - anywhere near Shell bay is glorious.

Try the kings arms in Portesham. They have some dog friendly rooms and walking is fantastic around there, including coast path and chesil beach on the doorstep. It was written up in the guardian a couple of weeks ago.
