How much did it cost for you to write your will?

I've come across a lot of 'cheap' options but when I get the quote back, it's gone up from what they advertise significantly. It's a very straight forward will - estate to partner, child if partner dies before etc. Am I right in thinking £100 is pretty average cost?

I've had a few quotes recently. They range from £200 to £300. I'm in Scotland.

We wrote ours last year and they were free.

We used one of the free will-writing services from a charity.

Free through union subs. Lots of upselling though!

A mirrored will cost me around £200 6 months ago.

£100 maybe 15 years ago. It's 2 appointments min plus the work to draw up. You're getting a professional service. Don't forget vat.

Are you in a trade union? Mine offers a will writing service. And also lots of charities do as well - they like you to make a donation to the charity, but you don’t have to.

Ours was free because we left some money to our favourite charities. Some of these charities have an arrangement with solicitors. We wanted to do this anyway so it was win win.

Mine was £200. If you are in a union - ask them they are usually do it discounted or if it is straight forward - no children etc I would download a free version and make sure it is witnessed independently.

I did mine for two children under 18, when the eldest is 18, a year or so, it will be rewritten for them both. And then I intend to do it again when they are both over 18.

Mine is being drafted atm. £150 + VAT. SE London /Kent borders. However, my neighbour went to a different local firm with multiple staff in a big building, and was charged £400 for a simple Will.

I was looking at Farewell which seemed pretty reasonable. £100 each or £160 for me and partner. However, very basic and filled in online and haven't been able to add caveats like leaving estate in trust should our child inherit before they are 18 and things like that.

I'm not in a trade union.
I looked at a few charity will writing for free but they all seemed to be free only for over 55s which I'm not.

Mine is quite basic, and I just want to make sure I have guardianship in place for our child should anything happen to both of us, and that partner is executor/sole beneficiary of estate minus a few named gifts.
