Worried sick about DH - need a hand hold

DH started to feel unwell almost 3 weeks ago. It took 5 trips to the GP to get antibiotics however it was too late and he was rushed into hospital. He is now in intravenous antibiotics since Saturday but is still not improving and they are now worried about organ damage.
I feel sick with worry we have a young DC and very limited childcare help.
DH is my rock and the calm rational one. Today I could see his fear.
Really just need to talk to someone / a hand hold

Let it all out! Of course you are overwhelmed and worried. But you know he’s in the right place and there’s been some good signs today. It’s frightening to see your strong person frightened but it doesn’t mean thats a bad sign.

Glad he's slightly improving.

I think the worst thing is usually being at home and not knowing what's happening and them not coming home as normal.

Add to that health anxiety and the time and silence for that to manifest itself.

I think you're doing really well. Maybe try some mindfulness apps or similar. Stay away from Dr Google 🤣 perhaps have a read of some MN classics or research some history or similar you've been interested in.

The trick is to keep your mind busy so it doesn't wander down into dark thoughts. As worrying as it is with DH he's improving, there's nothing you can do for now and he'll need to you physically and emotionally strong when he gets home and needs looking after.

Glad things are improving slightly. Keep being kind to yourself. I got to the point where I just couldn't keep going to work so took a couple of days compassionate leave. It saved my sanity. Let it all out. It's completely normal. Your adrenaline will be running out now too.
