Like most am really feeling the stress of cost of living at the moment. We both work but my husband is self employed. He's had to have time off for bad weather illness and now he's injured himself . Whilst he's off we have to use our savings to support ourselves and pay bills so savings depleted. Then every time he can't work there is less and less money to fall back on until now there's nearly nothing. Have the last instalment of our holiday due soon, haven't had one for ten years so thought this year it's time. I feel like we just can't have anything nice incase the money is needed elsewhere . Anyway there's literally no point to this rant just hoped it would make me feel better and maybe may make someone else feel better if they are also struggling

I know this won't help you now, but have you thought about getting income protection insurance for the future? My brother is a self-employed plumber and has had two episodes of illness where he needed a few weeks off work, and his insurance covered his salary for that time.

I've discussed it at length with husband and he makes loads of excuses saying it's not worth it
