Drunk Molaxole before it was dissolved fully

I took a sachet of molaxole as I couldn't go to the loo.

I'm not feeling great (menopause mood swings and irritability), and had my DD asking me for things constantly and making me angry.

I poured it into a glass, added water and stirred with a knife (like I usually do).

I realised when I swallowed that it hadn't fully dissolved and there was a lump at the bottom that I swallowed. I drunk another full glass of water and it felt like the lump was going down.

I'm worried about it causing a blockage. I know Fybogel can, but molaxole is different and doesn't turn jellified like fybogel does, I know it stays liquid (after having similar for a colonoscopy).

What will happen?

Macrogol (the active ingredient) is completely water soluble. Ispaghula husk (Fybogel) is not. So I would expect it will be absolutely fine and it will have dissolved in your stomach.

If you’re still concerned, ask your pharmacist.

@SnakesAndArrows thank you, that was what I was hoping to hear. I did phone the pharmacist, he laughed at me and said I'd be fine.

Do you mean fibro gel can cause a blockage if not dissolved proper

Anonymousemouses · 18/03/2024 20:49

@Rollonsummer1 no it was definitely molaxole, not the same as Fybogel.
