Where would you go in August - £4.5K?

I have searched 'the entire internet' and am still no closer!

Me, DH, 2x DC 11 & 13, neurotypical, good, easy kids (I know - lucky me!)

Looking for hot (even very hot is fine) brilliant pools/slides, near a town or some shops/bars for a stroll out, maybe AI.

Have enjoyed Majorca (many times) Corralejo in Fuerteventura, Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. Less keen on Kos. 10 nights, end of August, £4.5K, and ideas, bonus points for hotel/resort names!

You’ll struggle to get AI for that price I’d think but your kids at that age, I consider booking flights and a villa with a pool.

TakeOnFlea · 18/03/2024 13:36

They won't struggle! So many options at that price range 🤣 people do write some rubbish on here.

I'd go for jet2 Bahia principe sunlight tenerife. 10 nights AI end of august.

Or else for a bargain stay at less than 3k Sol Arona with Siam park. The kids will never be out of Siam Park 🤣. Personally I'd not do the AI and save £800 off that holiday price.

Turkey tends to be cheaper but a fairly open search on Jet2 holidays suggests that £4.5k doesn't give you many options for all inclusive in August!

TakeOnFlea · 18/03/2024 14:13

Weird. I'm getting 90 results on jet2 for turkey and Tenerife alone

NotFastButFurious · 18/03/2024 14:23

@TakeOnFlea i think it probably depends what departure day you pick. I put Wed 14th Aug in on my first search and there was hardly anything but on Tues 13th there's a lot more.

NCForQuestions · 18/03/2024 14:29

We're looking at Thailand. Look at Holiday Pirates - shows you the offers from other companies basically.

TakeOnFlea · 18/03/2024 14:33

Ah true, I put the very last 2 weeks in august as I thought the OP was more specific. There are some decent deals really.

I find October half term more expensive than august usually.

TokyoSushi · 18/03/2024 14:35

Oh goodness, let's not fall out! 10 nights from around 22/23 August ideally, thanks for the suggestions so far!

I've enjoyed oludeniz in Turkey and Menorca 😊
Or Lido De Jeselo in Italy with the option of going to Venice for a day trip.

idontlikealdi · 18/03/2024 14:52

Two rooms or are you kids still small enough for the sofa bed set up in a family room?

Therealjudgejudy · 18/03/2024 14:53

I did Zante AI at that time of year. Was brilliant

teatimefortiger · 18/03/2024 14:57

We found loads of holidays in Turkey all inclusive for within n your budget for August. We have actually booked Rhodes for 10nights, all inclusive, 2 adults, 2 kids for about £4k though. We prefer Menorca rather than Majorca but have found that holidays to the island have gone up quite a bit in recent years.

They'd still just about manage in a sofa bed/sofas in the living room that turn into a bed kind of set up, they'll be just 11 & 13 rather that almost 12 & 14.

Nobody is falling out 🤔 Just laughing at the first reply being typical MN snobbery. Loads of choice within your budget.

Do you like the look of any shared? I'd go with Tenerife based on you liking the canaries but not Greece. If you want to try turkey this is under budget for your dates but I'd do one of the sunwing, maybe fanabe beach with Siam park included.

Hurghada, do a trip to the valley of kings, some quad biking, get a resort with it's own shark proofed bay

swiveleyedconspiracyloon · 18/03/2024 16:04

Sunrise Oasis
Protaras
Cyprus

Notcms · 18/03/2024 16:05

For that price in July we have 7 days in Tunisia...AI, good rooms, waterpark 7 people 😁. (Booked with kids free places, not sure if any left but TUI are great).

NoddyfromToytown · 18/03/2024 16:06

Try Eden Roc in Rhodes - best all inclusive I’ve been to!

Bjorkdidit · 18/03/2024 16:20

If you're not fussed about where you go, you could put your dates, departure airport and party size in the jet2holidays deals finder, play about with the filters for waterpark, Trip Advisor rating etc, sort from price low to high and see what comes up.

If you're not set on AI, and don't want to risk beige, chips and fellow guests who's priority is getting best value from the free alcohol, you could look for B&B in an apart hotel, then combine a daily meal out with easy food and drinks, snacks and ice creams from the supermarket, especially as your DC are a bit older, so won't need running round after so much.

hopefulthoughts · 18/03/2024 17:05

How about Turkey? Seems like it's a bit cheaper than other places at the moment

Citrusandginger · 18/03/2024 18:45

We like wandering around local towns of an evening too so tend to book B&B and save some of our budget for dinners out.

If your teens are at the hollow leg stage AI may work out as better value thoughGrin.

Balearics, Corfu, Croatia, Lanzarote and Greek islands with good resorts. My tip would be to avoid very big hotels that are too far from resort amenities.

Outside option - consider Eurocamp or similar for water slides.

WaitingfortheTardis · 18/03/2024 18:48

I'd look at Mauritius, it's really good value in the summer as it is their winter (though still 25+ degrees.) With everything going on in the world I would skip Turkey or Egypt personally.

jackstini · 18/03/2024 18:52

From which airport?
