A non-phone device to play audiobooks?

DD (10) is going on her first school trip over Easter. She doesn’t have a phone or an iPad and the school won’t allow them to take phones/iPads away anyway.

Does anyone know of any non-phone devices on which you can play audiobooks? I’m assuming that they won’t have wifi on the journey and so I’d have to upload the audiobooks beforehand. I haven’t used an actual kindle for years - I always use the kindle app on my phone- but do stand alone kindles have this facility? Thanks for your help - apologies for my technological incompetence!

Kindle Paperwhite supports audio books, I believe. v 10. Not sure about earlier versions.

Can you get a cheap secondhand iPod and load some onto that?

The Amazon fire is good. I got it for my mum. Disabled internet after loading it with books. Voila. The Sony mp3 player is also good.

You can still buy normal MP3 players.

But do check with the school, DD's primary school didn't allow any form of electronics apart from a digital camera.

I listen to audiobooks on (3...) old iPod shuffles, I download audiobooks yo iTunes on my computer and put then on the iPod from there.
I do use the audible app as well, but find the iPod's much easier when travelling.

I think there's a Yoto that's fairly portable.

the yoto mini would work for this

Another vote for the yoto

Brilliant - thanks very much, everyone.
