As title says really, toddler started out with a streaming nose about 10 days ago, a little cough then developed and temp but otherwise well in herself with nurofen and calpol. She's still not eating properly but is drinking water and milk.
Shes developed a temp again night before last but was doing this heaving with it, not actual sick came out, was fine in the day just abit quieter than usual and more tired then tonight temp had spiked again and this heaving is back!
I don't understand what the heaving is all about ?
Surely if it was a stomach bug your body would expel the contents of the stomach, you wouldn't be able to keep it down would you?

May be the gunk from her nose is going to her throat and causing the retching ?

Hi, sorry to hear this - it sounds worrying for you. It might be her tonsils and she is gagging because they are very swollen. Can you have a look in her mouth with a torch?
Would advise taking her to the Gp tomorrow in any case.

DS (2) has this sometimes if he has a slight runny nose and cough even when he isn't overly ill. I assume it's the discharge from nose and the cough make him gag

My son used to be like this a lot as a young child and we used to always be getting ice lollies in the middle of the night as he would be so distressed and it was the only thing that helped.

My DD does this when she's snotty so does sound like snot in throat. Take to GP tomorrow though and get them to check throat/chest/ears.

Yes it could be mucus and we did initially think that, you can literally hear whatever it is coming up but she won't let it out she's so strong willed that she even manages to stop herself being sick !!
She doesn't sound very congested now though ?
It's been 11 days now since the first symptoms started and can't believe she is still spiking a temp

Also why does the heaving only start when she's asleep ?
