If I won the lottery I'd pay someone to (lighthearted)

put me to bed. I am terrible for going to bed at a sensible time.

What would you hire someone to do?

MissingMoominMamma · 17/03/2024 00:21

Sorry- lighthearted 😬.

Train my most irritating dog and tell me how to deal with her (disclaimer- I bloody love her, and am a very experienced dog owner, however, despite a lifetime of dogs in the bag, this one is fucking exasperating!!)

DilemmaDelilah · 17/03/2024 08:47

If I won enough I would have a housekeeper/cleaner, a PA to do all the life admin, a gardener, a hairdresser every week, a massage therapist every week, somebody to make my shoes, somebody to make my clothes, somebody to absolutely everything basically so that I can just get on with doing the things I want to do and not have to do any of the boring bits!

TodayForTomorrow · 17/03/2024 08:51

All the food stuff: meal planning, shopping and preparing food during the working week. I actually quite like cooking when I have the time to do it properly, so they could have weekends off!

dudsville · 17/03/2024 08:51

I would get private health care and a dentist. Of course i would also want a new roof, new windows, some redecorating and a cleaner and cook, but i would love the reassurance of actual health care.

DayOneDoris · 17/03/2024 08:52

How much are we winning here? Just a few million, I'd probably just hire a cleaner ans give up work hurray!

If many millions, I'd also get a cook and pool cleaner for my home spa

Taytocrisps · 17/03/2024 08:53

Sort out the bins. I have three (normal rubbish), recycling (paper, cardboard, cans etc.) and compost. They're all due out on different days. And also to wash/rinse my glass bottles and jars and take them to the bottle bank in the town.

MumMumMumMumMumMumMum · 17/03/2024 08:54

Cook my tea every night. Fresh, ironed, bed sheets every night. That would be a dream 😂

Fridaysgirl17 · 17/03/2024 08:59

The school run for sure,we walk (I don't drive at the moment) & it's not the longest walk about 30 minutes but I have the buggy with my youngest & my 6 year old & i do the walk twice a day there and back, mostly uphill back ( it's great exercise for us all) but in cold weather, rain etc it's a slog so for someone to drive us would be heavenly. Also a personal driving instructor who could help me get my licence, although in Ireland it's a set schedule (takes at least a year in between lessons needed, etc) but all the practice would be great & i could drive with them with me whenever i liked 👌🏻

Blow dry my hair every few days.

Me too

fivetriangulartrees · 17/03/2024 09:08

Someone resourceful to triage all the problems and figure out who we need to pay to fix them. Like, huge water stains on the ceiling. Do we need the house repointing? The roof fixing? The gutters cleaning? Some plumbing fixed? No idea, and no time or headspace to find out, so the stains get bigger.

Someone to hypnotise DP and convince him he doesn't need to keep the boxes that absolutely everything came in. And while they're at it, maybe they could inspire him to declutter all the things that came in the boxes too.

Luckydog7 · 17/03/2024 09:12

Firstly. A general cook and house keeper who would be on full time retainer and living next door who could at little notice do the cleaning, shopping or cook dinner. Ideally they would make a daily buffet that we could pick from or a meal plan I would choose. I would eat sooo much better with this. I like healthy food it's just such a faff sometimes and I just want to open a packet and stuff my face.

A second person who could do the life admin, school pick ups, ad-hoc childcare and all the annoying bits of my work. I love my job but the invoices and repetitive bits I could easily farm our to a competent pa.

Third, A lovely tutor, for my disabled son for when he starts refusing/hating school (inevitable) and we can't get a special school place because there are none.

4th someone/a team to make videos games to my own specifications.

All these people would have lovely big salaries, their own accomodation nearby and plenty of flexibility/holiday/generous pensions/benefits increasing yearly etc. Far too cushy to leave!

mondaytosunday · 17/03/2024 09:45

Clean and cook for me!

Weallnamechangesometimes · 17/03/2024 09:51

laundry and cleaning

SpikyHatePotato · 17/03/2024 10:15

Project manage a new bathroom and kitchen for me. Someone to deal with finding the right trades people, organise the contracts, be there every day to make sure it's all done properly, and then use both for a week or so and do the fault finding/ fixing.

Keepingongoing · 17/03/2024 11:01

@SpikyHatePotato Project managing new kitchen sounds good!

Someone to declutter my house, fit storage systems, put up shelves, create a place for everything etc, etc.

Then tidy up once a day ongoing.

99victoria · 17/03/2024 11:05

I'd have a masseur on retainer. I hate that after having a lovely relaxing massage you then have to drive home. I'd like a room set up in my house where my masseur could come round at 10pm every night then I could just crawl next door to my bed afterwards and fall asleep 😴

usernother · 17/03/2024 11:10

Clean my house twice a week
Do the ironing and put it away twice a week
Wash and blow dry every 3 days
Be my personal driver and be always available
Do my make up for nights out
Do my packing for holidays
Make me exercise

All of the above are what many people who are very well off can do already, but they are little things that would a big difference to my life.

Holidaytime2024 · 17/03/2024 12:13

Daily massage
Do my hair
Clean my house
Look after my dog
Force me to exercise
Go on holiday with me so I can be a bystander and just enjoy it
Make phone calls

WoodBurningStov · 17/03/2024 12:35

Fully renovate the house inside and out. Landscape the garden, new kitchen and bathroom etc. I'd go away on holiday and come back and it would be all done

dancinginthewind · 17/03/2024 16:01

I was thinking about this a lot yesterday.
Mundane jobs which take up far too much time are

  • laundry (from start to finish)
  • meals (from thinking about it to the shopping (online or otherwise) to putting it away to creating meals
  • a general tidier upper. I over commit and also have an element of time blindness. So I allowed myself enough time to go for a run, shower & get changed between taking DC1 for an activity this morning and going out with friends for lunch but I didn't allow enough time to do all of the ancillary things like put running kit in the wash, wipe around the bathroom put all of the clothes I considered wearing but discarded back in the wardrobe
ALongHardWinter · 17/03/2024 17:01

Do all my shopping and prepare all my healthy meals. And do the household chores that I hate, such as washing floors, cleaning the oven, vacuuming, changing the cats litter tray.... Everything basically! 😂

Annymania · 17/03/2024 17:02

A hairdresser in my house

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 17/03/2024 17:05

Finish all the bloody unfinished projects...

tofuprincess · 17/03/2024 17:09

Come in early and bring me a cup of tea in bed. That's all.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 17/03/2024 17:12

Wash dry and straighten my hair every few days, bloody hate doing it
