My tin of artichoke hearts tonight

Last night while rummaging about in my cupboard there was a dark oily kind of stain on the shelf. There was a lot of it beside a tin of artichokes but I washed it off.

Thought I'd test out the artichokes tonight. Opened tin, looked okay, rinsed them..and .........water turned dark blue.

I tried it again and the water turned dark blue.

Anyone else? (obviously didn't eat them)

Sounds like the tin got damaged some how and there was a leak?

Is it a bit like when red cabbage water goes a funny teal colour after the cabbage has been cooked? It might be a bit like that; may be a sign that the tin’s been dented and is reacting to some of the chemicals within the vegetables.

Strange thing is that the artichokes were in water in the tin and when I looked the water was clear. Rinsed them (all clear) then water in basin turned blue.
