Just a rant...

I need to rant...

After two weeks of trying to get a viewing we finally went to see a house that we absolutely fell in love with. The asking price was our max but we both just had that feeling. We have also have no chain.

We did offer a little below asking (as we knew it had been on the market for several months and no one else was booked to view.. nothing to lose). After almost two week (!) the offer was rejected. They would accept asking price only. Fair enough.

We offered full asking price on Tuesday. Yesterday the estate agents called and said our offer has been rejected the vendor wants 10k more now.

I'm gutted. We don't have nor can borrow another 10k.

It's his house and he can do as he pleases but I feel so sad. This would have been our forever home (or at least a very long time home). It was perfect for us.

The search continues.

To be honest I'm not surprised your offer was rejected.
However if its already not exactly in high demand he's doing him self no favors adding 10K on to the price.

You could always leave your offer on the table and continue to look. A few weeks down, no further offers and the line the vendor might become more realistic and snatch your arm off. In the meantime you might find something you like better.

Alternatively, the vendor is the kind of person who would mess you about right through the conveyancing process and/or withdraw the property/up the price at the last minute and you've had a lucky escape.

Something will come up that will be perfect for you at the right price.

Agree pp.
he would mess you about
No serious buyer would add another £10,000 when previously saying asking price
