I feel so unwell

princesspadam · 16/03/2024 16:40

I've been off work this week with a 'cold' but it's wiped me out, so tired, lying down all day.
Had a row with DP last nite that's unsettled me and today I have a headache, chest pain and ache all over.

I'm coming off ADs but not sure if it's related or relevant

I feel lifeless Sad

Aw, make sure you're hydrated and comfortable. Have you taken any painkillers?

Butteredtoast55 · 16/03/2024 16:50

There have been some me terrible viruses going around that have wiped people out so it could just be that. Be kind to yourself, get plenty of fluids, take paracetamol, eat light and wholesome food and rest, rest, rest!

princesspadam · 16/03/2024 17:49

I've taken plenty of painkillers but it's not easing
Almost at 2 ltrs water so not bad

Just want to feel normal again, I haven't trained in over a week

What antidepressants are you coming off and are you doing it under supervision?

FWIW I have a crappy cold too. It’s horrible.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 16/03/2024 17:52

Are you coming off AD's properly and under medical supervision?

princesspadam · 16/03/2024 17:54

Sertraline and yes seen GP
I'm on my 3rd month of reduction so taking it very slow but I don't feel good, kind of numb, no energy, sleeping a lot, but only this week

My cold has been something & nothing but I've ached all over and very tired

@princesspadam I feel you…

I am rarely ill. But completely lost my voice over half term and felt generally crap.

Last Saturday was ill with extremely bad throat and headache. I actually went ti bed in the afternoon (Unheard I’d for me) achy joints and limbs. Got over it enough to put on a face for Mother’s Day! Felt fine over the week. Went to work and gym etc.

Then today, wake up with Sore throat and back to being actually ill and in bed again. I’ve got such a head ache (currently sitting up having a cup of tea) while the painkillers taking edge off.

I can’t believe it. And it’s sunny outside 😭

piscofrisco · 16/03/2024 17:58

I've got this exact thing. I just want to sleep and sleep (except I keep waking up at 4am). Mild cold symptoms that randomly get worse occasionally, head ache, everything aches- but the bloody fatigue! ugh!

SunnieShine · 16/03/2024 17:58

I have also been really tired and achey this week.

I've got so much to do but no motivation.

ShowOfHands · 16/03/2024 18:01

I am never ever ill. From the middle of half term to the beginning of this week - 3.5 wks - I felt awful. I even took 2 days off work and I don't call in sick. Completely lost my voice, coughed and coughed and coughed and coughed, high fever, aches, shivering. Several colleagues are off with it and have been for days, if not weeks. Attendance of students is markedly down. It's been so miserable. DS is finally recovering after 3 weeks of lethargy and aches, plus a horrendous chest and throat.

I haven't exercised for 3 weeks ☹️

benjoin · 16/03/2024 18:03

Have you done a covid test?

Mummyofthewildones · 16/03/2024 18:06

This sounds very like the virus I've had this week. Felt crap since Sunday, temperatures every day and so so fatigued i just could not do anything. Achy legs and only a slight cough. Thankfully I finally started to feel better yesterday and am almost back to normal today.
That said, if you are having chest pain which has not settled with painkillers then you should seek help.

princesspadam · 16/03/2024 18:06

Oh no seems I'm not alone then!!!!

What on earth is it??? I'd rather have a cold that just comes and then you get better but this endless feeling of sleepiness is awful isn't it?

I did a covid test but was negative, I feel worse than when I've had covid

OP posts:
LunaNorth · 16/03/2024 18:26

I’ve got it, and I’ve been horizontal all week. Sinus pain, aching muscles, and just exhausted.

princesspadam · 16/03/2024 18:35

I feel a little bit reassured that I'm not in some hideous depressive episode!

Sorry you're all feeling the same though

OP posts:
CurlewKate · 16/03/2024 18:35

Bear in mind that coming off anti depressants may not necessarily be the right thing. No harm in going back on them.

princesspadam · 16/03/2024 19:11

@CurlewKate I haven't orgasmed properly in years!

It's time

OP posts:
JennyfromtheBlok · 16/03/2024 19:23

Yes this is far worse than covid, for me anyway

ChristmasFluff · 16/03/2024 19:38

Oh my goodness, you are ill. Please don't be worrying about not training. And please don't rush back to training, as this is a known risk factor for post-viral fatigue.

Even if you taper your antidepressants, you will most likely get some withdrawal effects, the most common of which are emotional numbing and low mood - which of course can mean people think their depression is returning. But it's more likely a withdrawal unless proved otherwise. Keepyour GP informed, and take their advice.

And viruses give you low mood and depression symptoms too - so definitely don't make any decisions on changing your coming off them until you have fully recovered from this virus.

I'm so sorry you're feeling rotten but that actually made me laugh out loud. I hadn't either but didn't realise it until I started localised hrt, good god I'd forgotten how good it feels, dh is cock of the walk (pun intended) thinking its all down to him and I'm not going to tell him otherwise. Hope you feel better soon and that you're having fun asap. Best of luck.

JMSA · 16/03/2024 19:45

I have a really bad cold/flu, and have been in bed all day.

Normally, I am the human equivalent of a sturdy old packhorse and am very seldom ill!

However, it has been absolutely NO time since my last bad cold/flu. Just over a month in fact Confused

Thankfully they've hit me over weekends in particular, so I've not needed time off work. I work in a school, which probably doesn't help.

Has anyone else had bad colds in quick succession recently?

LunaNorth · 16/03/2024 20:43

This is my second go this year and I NEVER get ill.

Lougle · 16/03/2024 21:06

I think you need to talk to the GP. It could well be the dose reduction of Sertraline. Just because previous reductions have been ok, doesn't mean that this reduction is. I think the GP would want to know how you're feeling.

JennyfromtheBlok · 17/03/2024 08:59

@JMSA Yes- as I put up thread.

Awful sore throat over half term, then again last weekend. And now this weekend, it’s definitely infected. Chills, aches, headache. I’ve been to out of hours dr and been given antibiotics.

Also rarely Unwell.
