Man Utd tickets

Just wondering if someone could give me some perspective...

DS (9) would love to go to a Man Utd match. We don't live nearby but have family who do. I understand that tickets are released to members only but what I don't have a sense of is how likely we are to get tickets and how much they would be? I can see some tickets on resale sites for eg £160 but these are right at the back but no idea whether that is reasonable or not (I assume not!)

DP has just been moaning to me 5 mins ago that he once again hasn't got tickets in a ballot... It's the first season him and his friend have had the membership and they've got tickets for 3 games so far which I thought was quite good though actually! One of the games they were 8 rows up from the pitch too and they've never paid of £55 for a ticket, so I think they have done ok.

Resale sites should be avoided like the plague. You'll be paying 3x as much for crap seats up in the gods.

If you want to splash out on a 'special occasion' basis you could look at the Matchday Hospitality packages. Otherwise you need to wait til next season, join the membership scheme and then apply in the ballot for each game and hope you get lucky.

Alternatively, if you have family nearby they might know someone who has season tickets, and you could let them know that you would be interested in going if can't use them for a game, eg when they are on holiday. You would still need to get membership so they could transfer the tickets to you, but if they had an under-16 ST they could transfer that to your son without him needing a membership (you would still need one though).

Alternatively, if he just wants to see and experience OT, the women's team play occasional fixtures there and they go on open sale.
