How to make multiple rugs look cohesive

I live in a bungalow with wooden floorboards. I have runners in the corridors and hall as well as the bedrooms and lounge but they don’t seem to flow. Can anyone suggest how I could achieve this. The decor throughout is fairly neutral, I like the Scandinavian look.

I have 3 different rugs in my (long) living room. They are all of oriental type style, although completely different, and each of them has an element, or more, of the wall colour in them. It seems to work. Also, the smallest one is in front of the glass doors leading to my conservatory/dining room, which is a completely different colour. That rug also has elements of the dining room colour in it too.
