So scared, found lump on back of head

I was just settling down for bed when I rubbed the back of my head. I felt a small hard lump near the base of my skull. I'm freaking out about it now.

Googled and seen stuff about glands. I have just had a cold so wondering if it could be from that?

Anyone else had this?

A Cyst

SevenSeasOfRhye · 15/03/2024 23:43

My first thought was a cyst. Get it checked out to be on the safe side.

Tulipvase · 15/03/2024 23:44

I’d say gland and keep an eye on.

What worried me is that it's painless and non movable. I'll contact the gp asap.

Could be glands, I've felt the same on DS before then it goes away x

Quackquacky · 16/03/2024 00:02

Probably been there for years ! If you cannot ignore, see your GP . I have a gland on the back of my neck…I had it checked about 30 years ago.xx

Probably a cyst but get it checked out. Mine was hard and non movable. Painless as well. GP said to leave it if it wasn't causing any problems. The dog burst it when I was in bed and she jumped on my head. Also painless but it left a small scar.

AllAboutThisNow · 16/03/2024 00:06

I'm hoping it's just from my cold and will go down.

Typical that I notice it just as I'm ready to sleep as can't stop worrying now.

It sounds like a pilar cysts. I've had several of them. Obviously get it checked but they are really common.
