Tell me how to clean my shower without losing the will to live

We gave up our cleaner with the cost of living crisis and have managed really well BUT...

I cannot get the glass shower door clean.

Please tell me how you do it - surely there is one product that just gets the water marks (hard water area) off?

I'm doing three different things: Cif, that stainless steel spray, and Mr Muscle glass, and I still can't get it properly clean.

THANK YOU

Viakal spray
buff with an ecloth
daily shower spray and squeegee after each use

Talktometellmeyourname · 15/03/2024 19:03

I use Viakal.

Wenttomowameadow · 15/03/2024 19:03

Viakal limescale remover, sponge with green scratchy bit. Spray all over, then rub with the sponge, leave for a minute or two and then squeegee off.

Easier to do when you're having a shower in my experience.

Yes! I always clean my shower when i’m in it 😳

ElleLeopine · 15/03/2024 19:05

I echo the above. The only way is daily squeegeeing. I don't bother with a shower spray. I just make sure that all the walls and the screen are well rinsed off, then squeegee. I then wipe the glass door dry.
Stop it building up in the first place.

ASighMadeOfStone · 15/03/2024 19:06

Viakal here too.
And you need to rinse it off, then squeegee it off, then dry the glass for it to be pristine.
I do that if guests are coming. 😂

Santaclausthemovi · 15/03/2024 19:06

White wine vinegar. We also always squeedge the screen after having a shower so it doesn't get too bad.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 15/03/2024 19:06

@CrispsandStEtienne vaikal too! used it for years! sometimes use it also on the shower floor

MrsMikeHeck · 15/03/2024 19:07

Yup, Viakal and the scoury side of a sponge.

Washing up liquid is good for a quick clean between Viakal scrubs.

LoobyDop · 15/03/2024 19:09

I’m in a very soft water area, but I find rinsing the screen down after every shower, and squeejying it dry, keeps it smear-free. It’s a minor pain but it works better than anything else I’ve tried.

Scaffoldingisugly · 15/03/2024 19:10

Harpic black loo cleaner on the green scourer side of a kitchen sponge...
Cleaner here. Much cheaper and more effective..

Tronkmanton · 15/03/2024 19:11

viakal or Cilit bang. Spray it on, leave for a few minutes, then scrub with wire wool. Rinse, squeegee, buff with cloth.
Once clean, keep clean by spraying daily & squeeging.

Alternatively get a water softener and you won’t have to bother with the above!

bluecomputerscreen · 15/03/2024 19:12

squeegee or towel dry after each use.
and yes to descaler when, erm, scaly.

This stuff strips the chrome effect off taps etc though

Shodan · 15/03/2024 19:13

Viakal and green scratchy sponge.

Then, when you've done that, and dried it- clear car wax, like Turtle Wax. Cuts way down on the need for Viakal etc.

SomethingWitty44 · 15/03/2024 19:15

Viakal user here too! The shower screen can be opaque (don't judge!) and yet a spray of viakal works wonders

Mosaic123 · 15/03/2024 19:15

Very hard water here.
I run the shower (very hot) round the cubicle before I get out. I then use a cloth to dry the chrome bits and a mop (with washable head) to dry off the screen. It's very boring but easy to do.

My special treat on holiday is to leave the shower without wiping!

IAmRebecca · 15/03/2024 19:17

I use bleach

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 15/03/2024 19:17

Magic eraser/sponge. Don't even need any cleaning spray. Admittedly I live in a soft water area, so it might be easier to clean, but those magic sponges really work. They don't last long though.

BobbysSox · 15/03/2024 19:19

We have a karcher window vac and just go over the screen after a shower. Takes about a minute and keeps it clean.

Wimpeyspread · 15/03/2024 19:20

Vinegar

gingercat02 · 15/03/2024 19:23

The Method shower is great. Just spray on and leave. We have really hard water, so everything gets limescale unless you keep on top of it

mynewusername2023 · 15/03/2024 19:31

We use our karcher after every shower and hardly get any water marks. A faff but easier than cleaning the glass after every shower.
