Where to eat in Covent Garden?

I'm going for a late lunch and have booked The Ivy Grill but having read the reviews, they're a biz mixed!

Going with my mum for a special occasion, can anyone suggest anywhere lovely (but not super posh as we'll have jeans on!).

Clos Maggiore is really lovely. I wouldn’t worry too much about wearing jeans to any restaurant in London as most now have a smart casual dress code.

Balthazar or Delaunay are both lovely.

DH and I personally love Floral by Lima. The food (it's Peruvian) is amazing. Have eaten there twice and it's been an outstanding meal both times, good cocktails too and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Lovely, thank you all!

I'll have a look through them now Smile

Another vote for Balthazar or The Delauney - but make sure you book

I went to Cafe Murano recently and it was very good and fits the bill of smart but jeans. I also quite like the Ivy Grill personally but it can be very loud and the tables can be very close together

Balthazar is my go to there, especially if I've left it a bit late to book. It's reliably good and enormous so you can often get a table near to the date. I like most of the Ivies but haven't returned to that one after a bad brunch experience.

Savoir Faire just past center point

Hawksmoor in seven dialls if she likes steak, it’s lovely down in that one underground! Buzzy without being too loud, lovely cocktails but very casual.

Savoir Faire is about further away but it does have a real French bistro ambiance and the food is nice if nothing spectacular.
