Duvet for the hot sleeper and a cool sleeper - anyone recommend anything?

Looking to buy a new duvet (king size)
Currently have a 9 tog (was one of those with a 4 tog that can clip onto it but we have never used it.

One of us has a medical issue and it can mean night hotness and sweats.
One of us doesn't have a medical problem and is average temperature duvet user.

Totally stuck on what to get as reviews suggest 4.5 togs but that will leave one of us cold all night.... We aren't doing separate beds.

Two single duvets on one bed. The perfect solution!

But I have lovely new king size bedding.... I need to use it !

Get a wool duvet, been a game changer for us and would never use anything else now. Feels heavier initially, but holds your heat in. Got ours from here and they have a deal on at the moment - no, I don't work for the company, but having had a wool duvet for years and recommended to friends, who are also converts, know they work when you run at different temperatures! https://www.thewoolroom.com/

I thought you could get ones that are different togs on each side.

Why does the clip on one not work, does it not allow you to wrestle extra duvet away without breaking the join ?

CurlyTandtheTangles · 15/03/2024 16:29

Interesting on the wool because we have ordered a new mattress and gone all natural.

Can you wash the wool ones ok? (thinking if the cat/dog/child vomits/poos on the bed)

Very lightweight king size duvet and an extra heavy single one for the chilly sleeper? Makes the washing easier than the alternative of a heavy kingsize one and a single lightweight one for the person who runs hot.

Same as @Cookerhood suggested! Best thing to do. We first came across this in Denmark and then in Austria too. Just use your lovely king size bedding on a 4.5 tog and "dress " your bed with it. Get white 100% percent cotton single duvet covers for your individually tailored single duvets and you will be grand!

This is DH and I!

We use a 4 tog duvet year round. In winter, we have a blanket on top of the duvet for extra warmth. He sleeps under the duvet and blanket, I can't bear being hot in bed so I sleep on top of the duvet but under the blanket.

Works for us.

Yes, they wash.

Just seen exactly what you want in matalan half price too

SaltPorridge · 15/03/2024 16:56

King size duvet. Sewing machine.
Line of stitching down the middle.
4.5 tog single in one side, 9 tog in the other side.

Fivews · 15/03/2024 16:58

We have a super king bed and each have our own king size duvets. We both sleep much better now, wish we'd done it years ago

AnotherEmma · 15/03/2024 17:13

Is there a duvet size which is between single and double? I'd love 2 duvets on the bed but I think two doubles on a king size bed would be too much... we definitely need a super king size bed!!

DoIdriveaVauxhallZafira · 15/03/2024 17:15

Wool duvet

historyrepeatz · 15/03/2024 17:31

There is a half-half duvet!

Ygfrhj · 15/03/2024 17:33

Sew two single duvets together and put them inside your king size duvet cover. My parents do this

SpringOfContentment · 15/03/2024 17:41

King size in whatever tog the hot sleeper wants.
Single or double in a warmer tog (but lighter than ideal) for the colder sleeper.

We have a 4.5 king-size. DH has another double that goes under the king.

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 15/03/2024 17:42

We have a half and half
Winter dp 14 me 7
Summer dp 6 me 2

WASZPy · 15/03/2024 17:43

We have a superking bed and a queen duvet each. It's brilliant!
