Socks for kids with sensory problems

Does anyone have any recommendations for children’s socks? DD 5 and 8 really struggling at the moment and the meltdowns are getting worse each day!

I looked on Amazon but hoping for personal recommendations!

This was something we struggled with for years! My younger son has sensory issues and the only socks he wears are from the Jettproof website. Not much colour choice and can be expensive to get set up with enough pairs initially, but absolutely game-changing - no more meltdowns/refusal to leave the house. Highly recommend!

Yes sock shop bamboo ones. I was on a trial via mumsnet of them years ago and now they're the only socks dd will entertain. She doesn't rate the tights though sadly.

Pretty sure M&S do seamless socks as part of their range for children with additional needs? Might be worth a look!

Sock shop bamboo seconded, and pretty cheap if you buy ten pairs I think.

OhamIreally · 15/03/2024 12:47

Try wearing them inside out. A school mum told me this worked for her DD.

Skintdancemum · 15/03/2024 13:17

Ooh fab ideas, thank you!

I buy diabetic socks for my DS - they have really helped.

IggyAce · 15/03/2024 13:42

My ds is particular about socks and he likes the sock shop bamboo ones.

MouseTheDog · 15/03/2024 13:43

Yeah you need to sock shop bamboo ones 😁

Scarletttulips · 15/03/2024 13:46

DS has bamboo ones from Amazon, cheaper than the sock shop - TKMax do them too - and underwear!

I now have some and I can see why he likes them.

I got some pokemon ankle socks from primark once that have such a none existent seam I can actually wear then the right way round.
I mostly turn socks inside out. It also helps to have a left and right sock so they stretch into the shape of your foot, a bit bigger at the big toe and a bit smaller at the little toe.

Another vote for Sensory Smart. Not cheap but really good.

citrinetrilogy · 15/03/2024 14:21

I've worn socks inside-out for years now.

Mynewnameis · 15/03/2024 14:26

I only buy sockshop bamboo for one of my kids.

Twirlypoos · 15/03/2024 14:27

M and a comfort socks are the only ones mine will wear- there's always some on Vinted bnwt for a couple of quid

FlamingoYellow · 15/03/2024 14:46

I have the sockshop bamboo ones for my ds. He will wear them even on the days when nothing else feels OK.

ASD son. Inside out worked for us because weirdly he didn't like seamless either. Everything hurt he said. So inside out it was 🤷🏻‍♀️
