Must've been 5/6 or so weeks ago that I started suffering. I felt like I just had a cold, then I was very drained for a week or two. Picked up then back to two weeks of having a cold.

Then it was a sinus infection and I was on antibiotics. It cleared up for a day or two and now I'm bunged up again, chesty as hell, can't stop coughing and no energy. Every time I feel better, I feel worse again. What on earth is this bug??? When will it go away???

You are worrying me now. I'm on Day 11 on a very bad cold with exhaustion and some tummy trouble. Since Day 2, every day has been the same: no sense of slowly getting better. Wake up with concrete in head, stuffed up, coughing, sore throat, legs feel like they're made of lead, so easily out of breath. Not used to this at all - usually a cold is one bad day then just mild symptoms for a few more days. Just napped for an hour, it's 7pm and am only fit for going to bed.

I've been like that for ages 🙃 it really is a nightmare!

It was COVID for me - from Jan to pretty much Feb. Variant's a right bastard.

No reassurance to offer but much solidarity. Antibiotics can do a number on your immune and digestive systems which can take a while to pick up from plus there are some vicious bugs - lots of fermented food can help speed recovery. I'm on day 2 of the antibiotics having finally decided I had to take something to deal with the stubborn chest infection, currently eating everything fermented I can to try and offset the impact - kefir, kombucha, kimchi, tempeh, cheese, yoghurt and sauerkraut, plus saccharomyces boulardii pills. I'm normally really active and it is just so depressing to be wiped out like this. Hope you're on the mend soon.

Marks and Spencer and ASDA carry kefir products.

My son had meningitis following an ear infection caused by sinus issues. Was in hospital on IV antibiotics for 8 days, then ear drops, sinus spray and oral antibiotic for two weeks.

Went back to consultant last week had sinus washes, was given a neti pot to use. He's been eating kefir yoghurt, drinking kefir milk, using garlic. Having a CT scan on Saturday.

Whatever it is that's going around it is grim

I'm in my second week of it. Haven't slept properly,my side hurts with all the coughing and I'm wearing tena ladies 😭

slipperypenguin · 14/03/2024 19:28

I had this for 6 weeks from December to mid feb and honestly still don't feel 100%.

Rumblingthunder · 14/03/2024 19:31

@concernedchild i don’t think you’re even safe in Devon!

just had a look at other thread and someone says it’s possibly a new strain of Covid - called Covid A which isn’t showing up on tests.

It makes sense as a normal cold never lasts this long! The other clue is that my period has stopped which happened the other times I’ve had Covid

I'm going into about week 7, throat, headache then nausea now it's back to my chest. Constantly coughing

concernedchild · 14/03/2024 19:41

Great point re the antibiotics and your gut. I think that's all contributing to it
