Council housing allocations

Hi everyone

Im currently in Band B and have bid on a property that would be perfect for me and my Dd. I’ve shortlisted 2 in the queue.

Does this mean that Im very unlikely to be offered the property or am I still in with a chance? Are the bids then looked at to see what the circumstances are of each applicant, so could it change if it turns out the property isn’t suitable for the 1st?

Only one or two properties come up each bidding cycle and the council have said in April there will be no properties at all whilst the new allocations process comes in. im desperate now for a new start with my Dd After going through a lot these past few years

thank you

Honestly nobody can really say they all have their own way of prioritising housing
It depends on where you live and availability of housing etc.

I worked with someone who came up in 9th place and still got offered the property, so you never know!

Good luck, you are so close now.

I am shortlisted rank over 20 and all 3 of the properties I have bidded on,has anyone been in that situation before, how long do I have to wait before being offered a property?Am pretty sure that the property will be offered to those on on of the list. How long will it takes to move on top of the list?

My friend was listed #4 on a property. 4 were asked to view it & he was the only one to turn up, so was offered it.

Once you start getting in the top 20 it will be months at most I've found. I was offered within 3 months of starting to get shortlisted.

Where I am…,they invite top 3 bidders to view ( same day) then go through affordability process with number 1 ….,if number 1 turns it down after viewing or fails affordability….,number 2 is then offered it…..,happens quite a bit that 2nd or 3rd bidder end up with the property.
when my DD lived in social housing……I went with her to view…..there was a lady before her ….,,then a lady waiting to view after her
