At home test kits for health concerns

I saw an ad for a home B12 blood test. I’m curious - if you do one of these and then take your results to the GP, is this normally well-received or are these things annoying for GPs who would prefer you to go them and ask for them? I just wondered if they were viewed with scepticism (like Googling your symptoms and jumping straight to the worst-case scenario) or if they are the same tests and it just takes away a layer of admin for the GP?

You should have some counselling before having a test: what do you do if the result is normal, what if it is abnormal. Lots of places happy to take your money and provide you with some numbers.

I’m not planning to do one personally, I’m just curious about whether they are the real deal and whether they are dismissed by the medical profession or whether they are helpful. Are the companies behind them offering a good service or is it just money-making.
