Anyone recommend a good car seat for a 4 year old?

I'm looking for a new car seat for DS4 and am hitting a brick wall on what would be best.

He's just over 100cm tall and ideally I'd still like a car seat with straps as opposed to using just the seatbelt.

The seat doesn't need to rear face as he is forward facing due to car sickness.

No brand loyalty here so happy to consider any option and budget is not restricted, although being so open to any is I think probably what's making my decision so much trickier.😆

Any and all suggestions welcome.

What is your son's height and weight?
Which seat is he using atm?

Read BertieBott's post above, she is the expert.

However, my advice is that your child is still too young for a high backed booster (like the ones you mentioned) and you should be looking at harnessed seats.

He's 103cm and 17kg. He's very long and gangly. So only 1kg to go until he hits the limit for his current seat.

He's currently in a Graco Turn2me (forward facing for quite a while also as he is too long to fit rear facing in this seat and car combination) and has been for quite some time. The issue is he's now at the point where it's very difficult to get him in as to raise his bum to get over the harness clip his head is hitting the celling of the car (A Class Hatchback). He has 2/3 inches headroom once he's in, it's just getting him in isn't a comfortable experience for him or us. 😊

Joie Bold R (not the newer i-Size one) £140

I think that's your best option as there is no height limit for the harness so you can use it as long as you need before switching to the seatbelt.

The other harnessed seats have a 105cm height limit so if he's 103cm already there isn't much point getting those.

Agree that would be a good option and it's not as high as the Turn2Me :) so shouldn't bump his head.

Thanks all, much appreciated. Going to take a trip out and look at the above (which wasn't even on my original radar) and others in person!

I doubt you'll find the Joie Bold R on sale in a physical shop. It's being phased out so only available online from a limited number of retailers.
