South African mumsnetters wine-help?

Is anyone able to recommend a South African wine company to buy a bottle as a gift to ship to someone within the country?

Im in the UK and need to order gifts for people and would rather avoid shipping from outside of SA.

The wineries in Stellenbosch must deliver country-wide surely?

Yes lots of the wine estates will deliver, but generally will only do a case.

Depending on what type of wine you're looking for, sign up for Woolworths app, they have a reasonable range and do same day delivery a bit like deliveroo

I asked my dad. He agreed Woolworths probably. I looked online and I'm almost positive that taste wine.co.za is one I've used previously although I think you have to buy by the case.

if you want wine farms on the higher end, I would look at Tokara wine estate or Constantia Uitsig. Both high end wines, well known etc. You could also check out Meerlust. Haute Cabriere is also a good one that would probably do good gift/deliveries. Personally, I love a bit of Glenwood - but I am not sure of their online options.

If you know what you want, you can look up Ultra Liquors as I think you can order from the local store to whoever you want to send it to. But it's not a great one for browsing/exploring.

Now Ive looked at Woolworths. Couldn't help myself. The wine farms I mentioned are also available there (mostly). Thelema is another one that's great and you can buy at Woolworths.

As a guide, I buy wine in the UK for day to day drinking in the £8-£12 bracket. In SA, I'd probably buy wine in the R80-R110 bracket for the same. When I buy a bottle of Tokara wine at £180 or something, my dad thinks I'm really splashing out!
