Anyone know about credit cards? Refund after statement?

Have rang credit card company twice to ask and they just don't understand what I'm asking.

Its my first credit card, taken out for credit building purposes, it has high interest as I have poor credit.

So I absolutely want to pay the full amount each month.

I aimed to spend £100 a month.

I spent £100 but the item was faulty and had to be returned. So I posted it back, expecting to be refunded within a fortnight.

So spent another £50 on the card so I had something to pay off, as a refund doesn't count towards a successful payment.

However Evri lost my return 😑 So I've been battling to get a refund.

Which will hopefully be issued tomorrow, and recieved within 4 to 5 days.

But because of the delay my monthly statement has already been generated, stating my balance for the month is the £100 of the returned item plus the £50 from the 2nd item.

Due to be paid April 6th.

Ive asked them if the refund is issued before April 6th when payment is due, will it go down to just £50 or will I still have to pay £150 because the statement has already been generated?

They just keep telling me to make the £5 minimum payment but I don't want to do that as it's 35% APR and my plan was never to pay a penny interest as i would always make full payment

I bloody hate Evri!

Tbh I'd probably just pay the £150 now to get it out of the way, then wait for/chase up refund and DD can be set up for April. Similar here, I only took out a cc for credit. I paid off a small amount of debt then thought: blast, need credit history.

Evri are a menace aren't they!
