Pale yellow walls, what colour flooring?

Painting my small hall https://www.johnstonespaint.com/colours/yellow-paint/lemon-daze which is a lovely bright colour! It has no direct natural light and four doors into it. I want to put vinyl flooring down but I'm not sure what to go for!

I'll add a pic of the space later!

I was going to slate grey until I saw it was your hall. I think it would need a fake tile effect to break up the surface. How big is the hall? Could you choose a dark wood effect?

SableGrape · 12/03/2024 22:16

The carpet is already grey and I kinda hate it!

Was thinking a wood type but not sure? I've never used yellow before!

Not the best pics sorry! The space is kinda an awkward L shape!

I would go with a dark wood or possibly cork? If a dark wood/effect, a cooler neutral tone would work better than a warmer/redder one.

Slightly better pics - don't mind the sloppy paint, I was just playing with the tester!

Darker yellow, brown perhaps?

I'm 100% set on the yellow I have - I bought the emulsion this morning 🤣😁

Would really like a lighter opinion - it's so dark because there's no direct light! Thinking maybe a tile effect option?

Tile effect vinyl can be really nice in a hall. Just be mindful though that if you get a lighter colour, with a lot of white, it can get quite mucky as hallways are high traffic areas. So you may end up needing to mop it very frequently!

There's only me and a cat so not too many feet on it! 😁

I would go for pretend wood vinyl, in a pale oak.

ZiggyZowie · 12/03/2024 23:49

Hessian or jute flooring or natural floorboards

I want something that I can mop, but thank you! It's also concrete floor underneath the carpet.

The wood colour that is in your photo (the desk/table in the foreground) is the colour that I immediately thought of when you said pale yellow. I think oak parquet effect vinyl would look lovely.

GOODCAT · 13/03/2024 09:38

We have very pale yellow walls in our hallway with white and grey tiles. The tiles are not dissimilar to the ones in your picture. It does all work together and the tiles make it a little lighter in a dark space.

Where are you seeing a desk? 😁 I feel like I'm missing something!

In the OP. The photo that shows the paint colour has a table (or something similar) in the foreground, with flowers and plates etc on it!

QuestionableMouse · 13/03/2024 19:31

I can see a photo for the link to the Johnstone's Paint webpage!! I'm not on the app though, so maybe it's that!

I like the tile effect.

You say that but I've the palest scandi karndean flooring it gets mopped now and again.

What would make the biggest difference is changing all the doors IMO @SableGrape that's what we did put opaque glass panelled ones in the bedrooms and bathroom, in an effort to grab some light from the rooms beyond.

Omg thank you! I've been going mad trying to figure out where the desk was in the pics! 🤣🤣🤣
