Help! What is this song from?

My DSis has asked me if I know this song/rhyme she has stuck in her head, and indeed I do, but no-one else seems to, and we've searched the internet to no avail. It's now really bugging us.

In case it's relevant, we are aged around 50, both with DC between 13 - 24. We think it's something from our youth rather than our DC's, mainly because none of them recognise it. It could be from anything though, TV, film, audio story. I'm even starting to wonder if we just made it up 😂

Only well known ones, like Joseph, where the lyrics would be readily available. We did attend the same schools though, so I guess it could have just been a weird school thing.

At my DD's primary school in the 80s they did a school musical called "Pearlies" about the origins of the Pearly Kings and Queens. There was a scene where they found a chest, which when opened turned out to contain pearl buttons. I can't remember the song though.
