My son is 4 and was diagnosed with slap cheek yesterday after a week of a sore tongue, cold and cough. He is absolutely fine now, however last week be came up in little mouth ulcers under his bottom lip and today woke up with one on his lip. He's saying they don't hurt. I have huge health anxiety so am really catastrophising.

His dad has the cold sore virus. Dad had an outbreak 3 weeks ago so is this linked to my sons slap cheek or could it be a cold sore? Thank you!

Well it could be a cold sore. But that’s not a catastrophe.

Slapped cheek syndrome and scarlet fever are definitely not the same condition.

Looks like a cold sore. Take him to a pharmacy and they will be able to give you something for it.

@MNdoormat yes you're right I see that now I've googled it

When DD had it the children's hospital referred to it as slapped cheek and scarlet fever 10 years ago
