I've lost my teddy

This is going to sound ridiculous. I know it does.

My DH bought me a Teddy bear 15 years ago and we've sort of given her a personality over the years and her brother and sister. They were even at our wedding!

Anyway, somehow she has gotten lost from our bed and cannot find her anywhere. Not under the bed, tangled in sheets, in the washer or dryer. Nothing.

The only thing I can think is toddler DD is put her somewhere - maybe the bin? We've looked everywhere. I'm so devastated I could honestly cry. I feel nauseous. I know it's 'just a stuffed bear' but to us she was part of the family and its like someone has died.

I've looked everywhere for a replacement too and nothing.

It's crazy, I know. But I can't stop thinking about her.

Oh no. When was your outdoor bin last emptied? Can toddler DD talk? If so I’m guessing you’ve asked her if she’s seen teddy. It doesn’t sound ridiculous to me. I feel the same about my bear. Even for a night away he comes with me. I hope to goodness he’s in the house somewhere 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hes probably been adopted by your toddler? Highly doubt he’d be in the bin? He’ll show up. I have a little comforting childhood toy too so know how you feel!

Lifeetc · 12/03/2024 01:52

In the washing? If you've stripped the bed recently?

Obviously I don’t know your child but I wouldn’t have thought a toddler would put a Teddy in the bin. She’s probably just taken it for herself. Might she have hidden it somewhere in the house or garden as part of a game?

shoesandshows · 12/03/2024 02:30

Oh OP I hope you find him.

My teddy is called teddy and I too would be devastated.

I don't have anything helpful to suggest but I'll be following to hope he turns up.

PeopleAreWeird · 12/03/2024 02:44

Would toddler put a teddy in the bin? Its unlikely

Teddy will likely turn up

HannahsLife · 12/03/2024 05:16

Toddler does love putting things in the bin right now sadly! Going through a phase. I do hope I'd have noticed though.

Have looked in all her usual places but hoping she's been dropped somewhere odd and will turn up! I just can't think where.

Thanks all.

Aww this is sad.
Can you play the “Where’s Teddy?” game with toddler, in the hope that in her excitement, she’ll lead you to Teddy is 🤞🏻
Good luck OP, hope you an be reunited soon.

Spencer0220 · 12/03/2024 05:28

This is sad.

Husband has a teddy my mum got him, he'd be heartbroken if she was lost.

I hope you find yours.

fivetriangulartrees · 12/03/2024 06:13

This happened to me. He had somehow got stuck right under the mattress, between the mattress and the bedframe. I would never have looked there but was desperate.

LlynTegid · 12/03/2024 06:53

Good luck in finding the teddy. I get the upset.

shoppingshamed · 12/03/2024 07:07

Pesumably the teddy hasn't been missing for long enough that indoor bins have been moved to the outdoor one and the bin men have been so that doesn't seem something you need to worry about

The above suggestion of making a game with your toddler is a good one

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 12/03/2024 07:08

When was the last time you saw Teddy?

I would be heartbroken too!

TeenDivided · 12/03/2024 07:11

Does toddler have a ride along toy with a storage compartment?
Or a toy suitcase etc etc?
