PETA/crufts:security reaction to lone female protester

Has anyone seen this video?

a woman unfurls a banner about dog breeding
she is put in a head lock and bodily slammed by a group of mostly male security

no one flinched or seems bothered in the crowd around her

the reaction is completely over the top in seams actually very violent

was anyone there? Was there something that preceded this to provoke such a reaction

how did you feel when you saw it if you have seen the video or were there

I haven't seen it. It sounds over the top!

I did take my dc to crufts one year and it did feel very secure for want of a better word.

Security guards are probably on high alert at the moment because of all of the protests that are happening at events just like crufts. Protesters are if course allowed to protest but they are very much ruining peoples days out in a time when it feels like there is not much pleasure to be had.

sashagabadon · 12/03/2024 07:11

I didn’t see the video but wasn’t she trying to run on to the main arena as they announced best in show? You’ve got to expect a strong reaction if you do that. It’s the highlight of the show and live on telly. She would have seen the security guards and how big they were before she ran out

sashagabadon · 12/03/2024 07:12

Security guards have no idea what you are trying to do or your cause or even if you are male or female in the moment.

LemonRoll · 12/03/2024 07:31

I've watched it now and I don't think it was as bad as you described. She needed to be removed! She could have gone quietly if she didn't want to be physically taken off.

People didn't react because there was already a kuffufle. I wouldn't have reacted either because I would be there to watch the show and I wouldn't want to give her the attention.

QualityDog · 12/03/2024 07:34

It would be nice if we didn't have to have loads of security guards at Crufts, The Portrait Gallery and The Chelsea Flower show but that's not how things are.

Like @sashagabadon says, if you storm the stage of the Best in Show of a huge dog show there is going to be a reaction.

It's white middle aged lady privilege to expect that the security are just going to say 'come this way madam'.

Damnloginpopup · 12/03/2024 08:12

I feel pleased that security were on the ball and dealt with the threat robustly, removing the protestors.

Not a fan of show people at all, from previous experience and don't disagree about breeding disability into animals but I am more supportive of strong security and more annoyed at the current crop of entitled protestors.

Cazpar · 12/03/2024 08:17

We know now that all she did was unfurl a banner.

In the moment however, security don't know if she's going to do something dangerous. So they have to stop her by force.

IvorTheEngineDriver · 12/03/2024 10:11

Saw the video. Saw nothing particularly remarkable. She was out to do who knows what and security did what they were paid to do. Stopped her (using reasonable force as the lawyers say).

CwmYoy · 12/03/2024 10:13

She must have expected it. I have no time for her type of protester. Ruining the enjoyment of others isn't the way to go.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2024 11:39

Was there something that preceded this to provoke such a reaction

Probably the long history of dubious actions by a subset of 'animal rights campaigners. Most protests may be peaceful but there have been enough cases of violence that security unfortunately has to act first and ask questions later.

ConnecticutAvenue · 12/03/2024 16:01

how did you feel when you saw it if you have seen the video or were there

When I watched it I thought 'I'm glad they dealt with that situation so swiftly'.

People are sick to death of protesters.

HelloMiss · 12/03/2024 16:35

Daft cow!! What did she expect would happen??

Well done to security!

HelloMiss · 12/03/2024 16:36

Sorry op.... it's clear you want a thread condemning males

Not really happening for you so far

The video was tame
