Finding Things You Thought Were Gone For Good

It’s a great feeling, isn’t it? My best example is my GM’s engagement ring which was given to me by DM after GM died. It’s beautiful & fits me perfectly. I lost it & turned the house upside down looking for it but no joy. Several months later, I found it in an inside compartment of an evening bag I rarely use. I remembered that I’d been to a book launch & the author did a ring making workshop on the night. I had taken the engagement ring off to wear the one I made!
Before Christmas, I hid some pendants & 2 new silver chains so that DD15 wouldn’t pinch them but then couldn’t remember where I put them! Drove me nuts! Last night I was sorting out my top bedside drawer & there they were! I’d been looking for a paper bag all that time but they were actually in a drawstring jewellery pouch.
Anyone found something that’s been missing ages?

I posted on the unsolved mysteries thread about my half eaten Easter Egg. It was actually a Valentines present.

Only me and DH here, and he knows waaaaay better than to hide my chocolate!

I've found it now!

I was looking for half an egg wrapped in foil. I was convinced I had thrown the box away. Eventually found it hiding behind some wine in the pantry. It was still in the big, bright yellow box which is why I didn't spot it (similar to your paper bag/drawstring pouch incident).

Glad you found the engagement ring. Far more important than a bit of chocolate.

Nothing quite as important as a ring, but we have a Christmas decoration that is like a countdown to Christmas. It's 3 stuffed Santas on top of a wooden block that has two cubes with numbers on, a bit like the sort of thing below.

DH and I had it since we've lived together so approx 20 years. About 5 years ago one of the DDs was messing with it and lost one of the cubes. Every Christmas we've still brought it out but it only had one number. This Christmas just gone I found the other number! So weird, we've even been through two house moves since losing it and I've never seen it and it was just there!
