Tartar on DS teeth - what should I do?!

My 2.5 DS has tartar on his front 3 teeth at the bottom, near the gumline. We brush twice a day, but he has always had excess saliva that sits where the tartar is. could that be causing it?! I haven't taken him to the dentist yet because he barely lets me near his teeth but need to get him booked in.

Anyone else have anything similar happen to their child? Not sure what dentists can do about tartar at this age. Also not sure if his excessive saliva is something to be worried about!! He has all his teeth through, as far as I can tell.

He needs to see a dentist.

My son had the same and the dentist wouldn’t touch it because she didn’t want to traumatise him 😬 it improved massively through extra thorough brushing and eating lots of apples!!

The first thing to do is see a dentist ASAP.

Ring them today.

Are you sure it’s tartar?

My DS has a condition where calcium isn’t absorbed by his teeth properly and enamel deteriorates rapidly so he needed crowns fitted and needs a dentist visit twice a year. He’s 7 now but this started at 4/5. He was put under GA for his crown fittings and initial clean but copes fine with the cleans now.

If it’s really bad and they really need to get in there they might offer twilight sedation. Defo go to a paediatric dentist as they’re really go with kids and distracting them!
