I've just been looking at the BBC Oscar red carpet photos. She is in there (looking beautiful) but is described as a "British influencer".
Is that what she is?

I've wasted far too much of my middle aged time watching her Chicken Shop Dates online which I love. I've also seen lots of footage of her interviewing guests at the GQ awards, the BAFTAs etc. she's so very good at what she does.

Yes her CSDs made her well known online, but isn't she a kind of talk show host rather than an "influencer"? Or am I just mistaken about what an influencer actually is?

To me, calling her an influencer just doesn't seem to give her her dues for what she actually does and does very well. She was on the Oscars red carpet as she was fronting the official Oscars social media campaign, which is pretty impressive really!

She is one of the very few to have "made it" without doing stupid little dances or showing her boobs, so yeah, respect for that.

I agree, she's not really an influencer, as in she doesn't use her platform to push commercial brands, which is what the term "influencer" refers to.

Yeah, I'm not sure why she has been described as an influencer either, she's a talk show host/interviewer, that's been consistently the main body of her work, and I'd also expect the person doing the writing to know that, given how she's been so present this entire awards season.

I really like her. Yes she's built up her career online rather than on TV / radio, but it's entirely fitting for the 21st century.

Her BAFTA interviews were a delight to watch, genuinely funny and warm, not just vacuous questions about their outfits etc.
