How often do you get a cold/virus?

How often do you get a cold? Is it normal to get a cold at least once a month ?

for the past three years I have been getting a cold or some other type of virus every 3-4 weeks between September - May and it's absolutely knackering. My kids are 5 and 2.5 and I know it's usual to pick up bugs from small kids but every 3-4 weeks???

I have a relatively good diet with fruit and veg and take a multi vitamin, take vitamin d spray daily, exercise x3 a week when I'm not sick.

i had blood tests done last year and it was all fine.

is this just my life now? My friends and colleagues are almost never sick and I feel like I'm sick all the bloody time.

I hardly ever used to be ill but since I had covid in 2020 I have had as many bad virus as I had in my previous 50 years. Pattern seems to be early December and then February. Though it was later this year and March. I’m sick of it to be honest. I eat ok and also take a multi vitamin. I’m thinking of looking in to other ways to boost immunity.

I would say DH or I have something at about that frequency. It’s very rare for us to be bedbound poorly, but a slight sore throat or runny nose or cough or sinus headache has been par for the course, especially this winter just gone. Our kids are small too. We both work in healthcare so we thought we’d be more immune to the effects of pre school germs…how wrong we were.

My kids are 14&15, they tend to have 1 or 2 colds a year. Dp has 1 or 2 a year, and I pick up one maybe every 2 years, but then it’s a humdinger and needs antibiotics and steroids and lasts for a good month. I exercise, take multivitamins and probiotics, wfh mostly and have the flu jab.

One or two a year until I had a kid, now it's pretty constant and I'm surprised when I don't have one Wine

Have you had your Covid vaccine?
Ive never been so ill! Seems like every other month!!
Before I gave birth I was literally never ill, always passed on illnesses but never showed signs, (never even had chicken pox, just passed it on) I seemed to be a carrier. I work for a school and would pass on illnesses going around there to family without becoming ill myself. However, once I gave birth I feel my immune system has weakened so much. Since going back to work I’ve been ill at least once every 2 months, from ear infections to cold and flu. I feel I don’t even know my body anymore! My son since being a year has seemed to be ill with colds quite a lot which I understand is part of building their immune system, but me on the other hand I can’t justify! Only two things I can pin down as a cause for my weakened immune system, 1, a result of giving birth (which seems unlikely as you’re suppose to have a weaker system when pregnant which on the contrary I had an amazing pregnancy) 2, I had the covid vaccine ( the first I had when I was pregnant and the second I had once I’d given birth )

Every few years. Husband has real humdingers, plus flu and COVID. In the last few years.

When I went back to work after a six year break I did get a few though.

I've had 2 in 5 decades. The flu/Bad cold in 2017 (4 days), Covid in 2023 (2 days of sweats and chills) - unvaccinated, I don't take medicine. Weird ND fear. 🙈
