Hi all, my Mum is beginning to clear out some of the overflow of "stuff" from her house including an extensive badge collection. We're trying to identify these 2 badges and all the information we have is this:

  • They're probably from the early-mid 1980s
  • They're plastic with 3D texture on the front
  • There are no markings on the back other than "1" on the back of the yellow one
  • They MIGHT have been some sort of promotional gimmick thing but we're not 100& sure on that.
We've done a google image search and nothing has come up. Any information or suggestions of where else we can look are welcome!

Looks like a slice of bread. Remember 'Mighty White' bread? Could they be promo material for that?

My partner wondered that and we did google various interpretations of Mighty White Bread badges etc but nothing came up.

Definitely bread. One is chewing on wheat.

MyGooseisTotallyLoose · 10/03/2024 21:55

Mighty White was my first thought!

He looks like the American wonder bread character.

Yeah Mum did wonder if it was some sort of breakfast cereal but they're definitely shaped like slices of bread.

I know people have said definitely bread and I see it but I also see Weetabix

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/03/2024 23:23

In fact I think it's definitely Weetabix one has the wheat symbol in one hand and milk in the other

That was Mum's thought but the Weetabix characters are all rounded and smooth on the sides but the ones we have are definitely shaped like sliced bread.

What will she do with them? It’s an unusual collection - how big is it and is it all promotional stuff?

Until we know what they are we're not doing anything with them. These are the only 2 badges like this she has in the collection & the rest of the badge collection is a random mixture of badges we bought at places we visited, some that came from club membership and probably some other random ones I don't know about.

We’ve got some old badges from jam that my grandma collected, but they aren’t socially acceptable now because of the racist imagery. I never know what to do with them.
