The Best Sandwich?

I’ve been told I can have anything I want for lunch and I’ve said I want a really nice sandwich.

Can you give me your best sandwiches for inspiration please?

Currently ruminating on a Club Sandwich or a French Dip but don’t want to be too hasty!

I'm curious - do you have ingredients at hand for all these sandwich fillings and breads?

I could rustle up cheese and home made chutney on wholemeal, or a jam sandwich Confused

WibblyWobblyWeeble · 10/03/2024 13:39

A really good club sandwich, or my weird choice, really runny brie with horseradish sauce.

This might have to be sandwich week!!! Some excellent suggestions here.

@BarleyShuga No didn’t have the ingredients DP, DS2 and DSD just went to Waitrose with my list…

I’m a very happy woman right now!

P.S. Food photography is hard!

One of my go to specials always goes down well:

Thick granary bread, moist turkey slices, slices of warm Brie, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Crisps on the side. Wash it down with a light red wine.

Another option is thin sliced fillet steak medium rare, blue Stilton, with a side salad.

Whoever mentioned fish finger for an inspirational sandwich... there are no words 🤦🏼‍♂️

Seedy cutty bread from sainso, Brie, spiced apple chutney, tomato, celery, cucumber and lettuce/leaves/greenery. Delish

Ooh I fancy a sandwich now! Couldn't pick one favourite but these are up there:

• pastrami, mustard, gherkins, with or without coleslaw and/or Swiss cheese on a bagel
• fish fingers (nice ones) cooked to nearly burnt with mayo and iceberg lettuce on crusty white bread
• BLT with really good smoked bacon (with fat trimmed) in a hot fresh baguette
• there's a sandwich shop in Bath that does the most delicious coronation chicken salad baguettes - I get one whenever I go there pretty much and have done for three decades now! Others don't comparr

Some fab ideas here. I can (and do) literally live on sandwiches. Enjoy OP 😁

As you enjoyed the coronation chicken try tandoori chicken with finely diced red onion, celery apple and cucumber. Spread one slice with mango chutney. Layer of shredded lettuce, then sprinkle over the chopped veg. Then sliced tandoori chicken, then drizzle over raita. Serve with walkers mango chutney flavour mini popadoms.

My favourite is kinda revolting, but I love it, Brie, cranberry jelly, a grating of fresh ginger and gherkins.

TheFireflies · 10/03/2024 22:32

Too late for today, but for the future… a toasted sandwich with haggis, cheddar and mustard is perfect.

Lovelydovey · 10/03/2024 22:36

I'm a big fan of egg, cheese and avocado in a roll. Scrambled eggs with sun dried tomatoes, vintage cheddar, mashed avocado, chipotle ketchup and caramelised onions. I made myself one this morning, gave it up to DS2 who was eyeing it up and made myself another one. Blummin marvellous.

Sunbird24 · 10/03/2024 22:38

I had a really nice sausage and Stilton sandwich last week, in seeded bread and with coleslaw on the side.
Also good:
bacon, Brie & cranberry in a crusty baguette
chicken, bacon & avocado in any bread
bacon with a thin slice of cheddar in thick white bread

Theres a theme with my favourite sandwiches!

scaredofff · 11/03/2024 07:07

I'm so hungry now reading all of these sandwiches

UnravellingTheWorld · 11/03/2024 07:30

Christmas dinner sandwich!!! Turkey, ham, sage stuffing, and cranberry sauce. Toasted (to squash it more than anything 😅)

AlisonDonut · 11/03/2024 08:54

I have a sandwich for tea most nights [we have our main meal at 2pm] and my favourite is mature cheddar, hummus, mayo and salt and vinegar crisps.
