What film to watch with teens on Mother's Day

DD (17) and DS (14) are back from their Dad's early eve for Mother's Day .

We are going to get a takeaway and I want the 3 of us to watch a film with them (of my choosing). It's a pretty rare occurrence that we all sit down and watch something together, so I want to find a film that not only I will enjoy but they will engage in too.

Open to all genres. Something funny / comedy is a good bet - they are not into romance but a non complicated thriller or a horror would also work.

DS likes the marvel films but I don't
DD likes non shmaltzy coming of age films (ladybird, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind) etc as do I

A friend recommended Kevin and Perry go large Hmm

My mind has gone blank. Any suggestions?

The newer jumanji films are easy watching and pretty funny

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 🍿

The Lost City on Netflix Sandra Bullock Channing Tatum
I may be easily amused but thought it was great

Carrie Pilby also a great coming-of-age movie but not sure it will hold any interest for the DS 14

hangingonfordearlife1 · 10/03/2024 13:14

have they seen grown ups?

HumphreyCobblers · 10/03/2024 15:15

Rubbish in a good way.

Have they seen Hot Fuzz? Best movie ever in my teens' opinion, and indeed mine.

We watched Operation Mincemeat last night which was surprisingly well received.

@AsTheyPulledYouOutOfTheOxygenTent

Thankyou! After extensive research we have decided on hot fuzz (turns out DD has already watched and loved it)

She had also seen the holdovers apparently.

Will keep the other suggestions for future use. Thanks all!
