I've got some savings but am not able to add to that at present. On the plus side I don't have to use them.

so

you are single
two entirely independent adult children, neither of whom had the expense of university
you are 57 and still work full time? what’s your salary?

your outgoings?

Committing fraud or investigating it?😁

FindANewFavouritePlace · 10/03/2024 10:18

Surely you know some people can/do save and some people can’t/don’t.

It depends on their income, outgoings, whether they’re good with money.

given your other thread is about you having no private pension and you opted out of the work one (why??)…. you will be needing that £12k

SleepingMermaid · 10/03/2024 10:22

I don't know why people are giving you a hard time. Savings is about managing your expenses so you have something left at the end of the month to save.

If your mortgage is paid off, it sounds like you're in a good position to save. Have you gone through your bank account and written down all your expenses? How much are your expenses compared to your salary?

Opted out as I needed the money in my pocket at the time I guess I could opt back in but need advice as I’m not sure I could pay enough in now to make a difference

OP posts:
KeenAnt · 10/03/2024 10:24

so you ask about savings

you have put zero in to a pension but have saved £12k

others may say they have little in savings BUT their pension pot will be many multiples of £12k

decionsdecisions62 · 10/03/2024 10:24

So many of these savings threads at the moment! Not sure what repeatedly asking the same questions really offers!
