Yes i agree, The vast majority of caring work is done by women.

Maybe if the constitution was changed - so it didn't talk about womens duties in the home.

It might filter down through the masses that housework/childcare is not just womens duties, that it is both genders duty to do housework/childcare.

It might have made a change

As if.

Grow up deadringer. People are allowed to agree and disagree on mumsnet.

As you well know. Are you going to say the same thing for a third time?

And yet its you that can't seem to allow anyone to disagree with your (very set) notions.

I've never said to anyone not to talk about their opinions.

I don't agree with those people, and they don't agree with me.

But I've never said to anyone "don't talk about it or shut up'

People very rarely change their viewpoint. On anything .

The importance is still being able to have a discussion

Well we'll never know now. Will we.

I do thinkn if the constitution became more gender neutral about who has duties in the home,

it would have filtered down to more respect for women.

Nothing to stop them having another, less inept go at changing the wording.

But if it's going to make men do more, how come not having a constitution with that in it hasn't worked anywhere else?

Yes if they changed the wording, it mightnt have much of an impact. Ot It might have had an impact.

It's hard to know with these things.

I wonder will they do another referendum

. Do you remember that EU referendum they made us vote on twice on ireland
.

I do indeed.

I think from my own experience and that of friends/colleagues/acquaintances, most of us want to be at home in some capacity when our children are small.
And I think more should be done to support that, rather than the focus always being on childcare and getting the worker bees back on the production line ASAP.

If I remember correctly, the last census showed that 1/3 of Irish under 5s were in some form of childcare. Meaning 2/3 are at home with a parent.

More and more people are waking up to the fact that a capitalist driven society doesn't actually serve families (in whichever form they take).

Clearly not at Twickenham, then OP.

I don't see much to be proud about given two badly run referendum campaigns that would likely have passed if govt has listened to the recommendations of the citizen assembly.

Er I don't think so
