I'd move the other sofa to the rug and put the dining table in the middle of the other section.

Move the table where the small sofa is to make a separate eating area & bring the sofa forward to make a cosy sitting space. Furniture doesn’t need to be pushed back to the walls.

I’d put the table where the sofa behind the door is, and move that sofa forwards so it’s nearer the rug. That will create two clear ‘zones’.

Thank you that’s actually how I had it but we want more floor space ( table where the small sofa is ) x

What do you want the floor space for?
I'm asking because its purpose would maybe determine the best layout.

Millymollymaisy · 10/03/2024 09:32

when we had the dining table where the small sofa is and brought the sofa forward it cuts the room and feels quite claustrophobic. Floor space to have it feel more spacious and we have kids

Moving the dining table out of the room and leaving the sofas where they are will give you the largest blank area.

IncompleteSenten · 10/03/2024 09:37

I would have suggested the sofa that's on the back wall moving to the wall facing the other sofa because as they are they're just not cosy but that looks like it will block a glass door is it?

Have you tried swapping the small sofa and the tv ? A room sometimes feels better zoned when the sofas are in an L shape next each other.

Put table where small sofa is.
Move small sofa forward (you can push it further back when table not in use, for more floor space).
Change the orientation of the rug (so short edges at TV and small sofa).
