Just out of interest ….I’ve noticed on MN when ppl post threads,on some occasions ppl get very nasty and insulting,it’s horrible there really isn’t any need for it we can all have opinions but it doesn’t have to get nasty or insulting.

Honestly it’s got so bad on here, especially AIBU. People will argue black is white. I just don’t know why they get so personal and rude, no need for it

I know I know I just don’t get some comments are very personal …..I’ve been insulted for not using commas and full stops …been called unhinged which I found insulting as I suffer G.A.D. and all it was about was a difference of opinion there really is no need for it

The trouble with something with open access (and anonymity) is that you will get the full range of personalities. Some people are so unhappy (only they know why) and felt the need to lash out at random. It's really quite sad that you have to experience that on here but equally there're plenty of helpful and caring people around. Ignore the nasty and ignorant and embrace the good, that's probably all you can do.

It's upsetting. you say something lighthearted and it's taken the wrong way and you are accused of all sorts.

Some ppl are more sensitive than other for example I have GAD and can take things the wrong way other time ppl are just plain RUDE

It annoys me when people 'hijack' a thread...
They've posted a reply to someone's question/ problem and don't like the response it gets from other PPs. They then post endless new replies defending themselves so much that it's taking over the thread... if you want an argument feel free to start your own thread love!

Just perhaps they are nasty because they felt the original post was in sone way nasty?

Perhaps they are sensitive too

It's very difficult communicating to a very diverse audience using only written word and what might seem reasonable to you might seen patronising or smug or rude or insensitive to someone else

Not always some ppl are just rude and that’s there problem not mine

And you also can’t rule out vindictive attacks in order to make it an unpleasant place for everyone else

We’ve all probably encountered someone like that - they turn every hurt they have into jealousy and bitterness

And so choose to wreck everything for everyone because they refuse to deal with their own issues

Scroll past and ignore if you can because nothing will please them ever, not arguing, not placating, not ‘trying to understand’

Hope springs eternal that they’ll put the effort into taking responsibility for their own lives instead of being abusive

But that’s not ‘our’ job, nor MN’s, so best we can do is not engage, and MN has a reporting system for when unpleasant veers into harassment/discriminatory language

Woman posts at three in the morning, she's had him arrested after being beaten into locking herself in a bathroom with her children, the police have had to bust the front door in to get to him and there is always some twat posting

What did you do to provoke him?

Or those that post such completely fatuous platitudes or completely incorrect legal advice, that you start to wonder if they've posted on the right thread

i’m talking about for instance if people didn’t like my reply and I started constantly commenting and trying to defend myself…😏

The fact some replies on here have been deleted sadly says it all.

In addition, l have seen some threads of late where not only has someone been rude to the OP, they have then gone on to provide factually incorrect information.

I think some people need to stop blaming others for being too sensitive.
