It's Mother's Day, an official lie in morning and I was wide awake at 7am

Can anyone else just not sleep in anymore?

I've got good blackout curtains, even an eye mask.

But my body clock is just set to 7am.

I used to be able to sleep till midday!

Same! But I had ds in bed with me since 2am as he was upset and poorly so the plan for a relaxed morning had already gone out the window by then 😂

Chocochoo · 10/03/2024 07:56

Same, baby DD slept in her cot all night which is pretty unusual for her, and DH dealing with 4yo DD last night didn’t wake me up either. So I’ve had the most sleep I’ve had in ages and feel very energetic. Still having a lie in though, just not sleeping!

Best Mother’s Day gift ever!! 😊

I see your 7am, and raise you a 5am.

I can't sleep more than 6 hours these days, so as I went to bed early it meant I woke early.

But I enjoyed a couple of hours of peace with a cuppa. DH still in bed, as are DS12 and DD11. DD14 is now up as we have to leave for training in 30 mins.

FreckleHeckle · 10/03/2024 07:58

Yes I'll laze about in bed a while whilst DH sorts the dogs out.

My kids are teens so don't see them on the weekend till gone 11am.

I could have a lie in every weekend if my body would allow it 🙁

Me too. I said I wanted a lay in and was wide awake at 7 lol!

AchillesLastStand · 10/03/2024 09:13

I was wide awake at 3 after getting up for the loo. I’m not one for lie-ins anyway but it would be nice to have a longer sleep every now and then!

DelilahBucket · 10/03/2024 09:17

Same, although the last couple of weeks it has been 6am so 7 was a bonus. Meanwhile DH surfaced at 8:55! I can't begrudge him a lie in, he works much longer hours than me during the week. As for DS, well he's 16, so 9am was perfectly acceptable. He's usually up at 7-7:30 on a weekend as he doesn't lie in either. Granted he did come down with a big bunch of flowers and a card.

Pickles2023 · 10/03/2024 09:19

I had a finger up my nose at 5am this morning 😭😭 its become my LO way to wake me up.

colourPink · 10/03/2024 09:21

My son is 5 months old and I am EXHAUSTED. The only thing I asked for Mother's Day was a lie in. DH was out drinking yesterday so was too hungover to get up 😴

He's awake now and made an effort with gifts/card but I feel sad about losing out on a lie in (pathetic I know).

I guess it's true what they say - motherhood is never sleeping again 😂

cariadlet · 10/03/2024 09:24

My dp woke me up at 7 to tell me that he was going to go to A&E.

He told me to go back to sleep but of course I got up with him. He's currently hooked up to a monitor and his heart rate is all over the place.

BrutusMcDogface · 10/03/2024 11:26

@cariadlet i hope your dp is ok 💐

YorkshireIndie · 10/03/2024 11:27

I had to wait for 'D'H to wake up and go to the toilet before he would take the children 🙄🙄🙄
Cue me being bloody awake and unable to go back to sleep

FloofCloud · 10/03/2024 11:29

Yep! Awake at 2:30 ish, up at 5am currently the only person up!!! Having a bath now and snooze shortly!!

cariadlet · 10/03/2024 11:44

Thank you @BrutusMcDogface

He was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation a few months ago and had cardioversion a couple of weeks ago. We thought that had fixed things but it looks like the AF is back.

We're still in the hospital and it's not the Sunday that I'd planned but he'll be ok.

RagzRebooted · 10/03/2024 11:46

DCat1 woke me at 7, an improvement on 6am yesterday. I did manage to get back to sleep though, which I didn't yesterday.
DH and were up very late, I didn't get sleep until gone 3:30am so it still doesn't feel like a lie in even though I got up at 10am. DCs brought me tea, coffee and snacks in bed for mother's day so I'm still here.

cardibach · 10/03/2024 11:47

Your ability to sleep in dies return…eventually. It’s taken semi retirement as well as DD being an adult though. Hang on in there. It’ll be grand by the time you are 59…

That’s really shitty of him. Don’t let him get away with it.
