First Mother's Day as a single parent. Children are 16,13,11,8
I love the sentimental things hand made cards etc. but was a bit sad for them as their dad said he would give them money/take them to get me something but he hasn't done. So dd16 has used money from her own wages (I will give this back to her stealthily as payment for some chores or something in a couple of weeks) and taken the younger ones to the shop to get something (no idea what!) and they returned home, ds11 is currently making me a fresh tomato soup that he learned to do in food tech for my lunch tomorrow.

I wasn't bothered about getting things but it's nice for them to give and it makes them happy to do something nice, so I was worried it was going to be a bit of a rubbishy day but they're being so thoughtful 😍
(Not a brag... they are often monsters 😂)

Well done kids. Good effort. It's the thought that counts for sure. Enjoy tomorrow
