We’re (me, dp and our 2 year old) going to the zoo, swimming (at a place with a toddler play part) and to an all you can eat buffet 🥰

Not much. DD is working and lives too far away to "pop in" afterwards. DP is off to visit his mum's grave and my mum is also no longer with us, but there is no grave to go to.

I will, however enjoy the wine, chocolates and book DD sent, that arrived yesterday.

My mum is coming over for lunch, and my brother/SIL are joining us later.
One teen is currently sleeping and one is playing rugby, but they will be around this afternoon. I may or may not go out for a coffee with the eldest if he emerges from bed in time. He's working this evening and had an 18th birthday party last night so not prodding him. I had a card and present from the youngest this morning before he went out, and a cuddle in bed (he's 14 and 6')
I'm having a lazy morning, pottering around drinking coffee. Usually I go to rugby but opted out as it's vile weather and I want to spend some time with my mum.

We have my Mum and MIL & FIL coming for Sunday lunch. Oldest some came home from Uni with a plant and card, youngest flowers and a card. Husband made breakfast,Looking forward to today. Will be a lovely, relaxed family day which I adore.

Ds is autistic and struggles with things like Mother’s Day, so tomorrow will just be a normal Sunday for us.

I'm autistic too and don't care about Mother's Day, birthday, Xmas.
Both younger kids at home are also autistic, one pre verbal and unaware of lots of things, the other has made a card at Brownies but isn't that fussed. Normal day here. I'll pop over and see my eldest daughter and grandson this afternoon but only for a normal cuppa and chat.
Can't bear celebration days.

Nada. Im sick with a cold, my resident DD doesn't know it's Mother's Day and my son lives away and is working today anyway. I told him not to spend any money on me (he's on minimum wage) as I have a birthday later this month.
Couldn't care less really. When they were younger I might have taken us all out to lunch (and they ma y have made me breakfast in bed). I'm a widow so no hubby to arrange anything.

My ideal Mothers Day would be a walk at a nearby garden, dinner in my favourite restaurant and then a few glasses of wine in front of a chick flick/period drama.

But DD is working and I'm recovering from getting my appendix out, so I can't drive and can only walk very short distances. And alcohol is out because of the antibiotics <shrugs>.

Anyway, I saw most of my siblings yesterday and we went for lunch nearby. So today I'm relishing the peace and quiet. I'm going to watch the rugby and watch some old movies (BBC Two is showing a '50s version of Moulin Rouge and also Funny Face).

I'm thinking about my own Mam too. Fond memories of Mothers Day when I was a child. My Nana lived with us. We didn't do anything special but we'd be sooo excited handing over a bunch of flowers and cards. After dinner (home made Sunday roast - eating out happened once in a blue moon), we'd have a cake with Happy Mother's Day iced on it. Just simple memories of the whole family together.

Having a lie in this morning. No breakfast in bed as DD1 has had to go to church as she's a Girl Guide leader. DD2 is still out for the count.

Then they'll both do revision for their A levels which I'm definitely ok with.

Yesterday the started baking mini quiches, biscuits and scones so we'll be having afternoon tea.

DD1 bought me a lovely bunch of flowers and DD2 had bought me the Barbie DVD which we'd planned to watch this afternoon but as there's rugby on the TV DP will be watching that instead 😖 Hopefully will get a chance to watch it later.

Cleaning the kitchen, putting clothes away, vacuum, make dinner, watch Crufts. Answer the one text I have had from one of my four adult kids. Overwhelmed with love and appreciation.

@Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride happy Mother’s Day! 🌷
DD1 lives away and has sent a card and text.
DD2 is at boyfriend’s family home and text to ask if I want her to come home….😏
I’ve just been out to treat myself to a new tomato red lippy and a new mascara.

Bunnykins34 · 10/03/2024 14:36

Husband and Daughter both working today so I'm doing the housework and cooking dinner, it's just a normal day in our household x

43ontherocksporfavor · 10/03/2024 16:55

So, DD came home and helped DH to finish a roast which was delish. She also brought me a card and flowers.

Honestly? Sit on my arse. The best gift I can give myself is the day off.
