Going through the process of getting my 10 yo set up with his first phone, ready for starting to walk home from school
He already has a google account (with age set as over 13) as it was the only way we could get an google address for him at the time. Have been happy with this as we've got his '[email protected]'
Now it seems you can open a special kind of google account for an under 13 year old and set the parental controls off it.
Can I ask those that use Google Family, could we stick with his current google account and still add parental controls? Or do we need a new 'under 13' account for this? What are the downfalls e.g. him having more control to switch them off?
I mainly want to set up the device tracking so I can see where he/his phone is and app/time restrictions will only kick in when he's on the secondary school bus.
