What's your best "whole" peanut butter?

wubwubwub · 09/03/2024 15:48

So the stuff that's just nuts, and maybe a hint of salt.

Mine is Pic's. But it's EXPENSIVE. as it's from NZ. Any other choices you'd recommend?

Ideally high-oleic if possible.

Wherearemymarbles · 09/03/2024 15:55

So no, I dont have any other ideas!!

EmpressaurusOfTheScathingTinsel · 09/03/2024 15:56

I don’t know about high-oleic but I get Manilife from my local Holland & Barrett. Peanuts, salt & nothing else.

SilkandSteel1 · 09/03/2024 15:58

I like Meridian

wishIwasonholiday10 · 09/03/2024 16:01

I like Meridian if you also want no salt for young kids.

I also like Yumello which does have salt.

Don’t think either of them are particularly cheap though. I sometimes buy the 1kg tubs of Meridian at a discount if planning to use it in baking.

Whole Earth

IsThisNameTaken · 09/03/2024 16:07

I used to buy Biona, but that has almost doubled in price recently so now on Pip & Nut (cheap at Costco)

muddlingthrou · 09/03/2024 16:09

Manilife dark roast every time - for me nothing comes close. I'm getting my 2 yo DD into it too!

SnakesAndArrows · 09/03/2024 16:12

I buy Aldi Foodie Market. Cheap. 100% peanuts. No salt, no palm oil. Very delicious.

ThePriceIsWright · 09/03/2024 16:12

Whole Earth crunchy

Pushtart · 09/03/2024 16:13

This. It's bloody amazing!

eldorado02 · 09/03/2024 16:14

Meridian, or the Aldi alternative, which comes in giant tubs for only £3.99.

Wbeezer · 09/03/2024 16:15

Yes, I buy big tubs in Lidl or Aldi, DH doesn't like salty peanut butter so I just sprinkle a bit of sea salt on the top.

eldorado02 · 09/03/2024 16:15

Whole Earth has palm oil in it, so that’s probably a no from OP.

Tattyhabits · 09/03/2024 16:18

I make my own. Food processor, packet of peanuts, groundnut oil and a spoon of honey.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 09/03/2024 16:20

Meridian

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 09/03/2024 16:24

Morrisons Peanut Butter is just peanuts everyone else's has other things added (salt, oil) but theirs is just peanuts.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 09/03/2024 16:24

Proper Nutty

I'm not sure how widely distributed it is out of West Yorks, but you can buy it online proper nutty-and it's on Ocado.

That's our "everyday" choice. Pic's is for special occasions LOL.

Do you use roast peanuts or uncooked ones? I'd like to give this a go

squashyhat · 09/03/2024 17:01

Skippy extra crunchy. I've not seen it in UK shops but I get it in 1.13kg jars from Amazon. Price varies but at the moment its about £8 per jar.

Yes, this one. It's amazing! I bought Whole Earth the other day, as I was in a different supermarket, and it tastes of nothing by comparison.

Tattyhabits · 09/03/2024 18:33

@chrispychilli
I just use roasted salted peanuts. I found the ones from Lidl in the blue packs are fine for this. Basically you put the peanuts in the food processor and whizz. They go into a paste after a while at which point i start adding the oil. I do have to guess on the amount of oil, I think the oiliness of the peanuts vary a bit from pack to pack, so just add it gradually as you're whizzing it. I usually hold back a spoon or two of chopped peanuts to add back in. The honey, just a teaspoon or so to taste. Likewise with salt.Smile
