Online ticket - ability to cancel? I cocked up

Fully my fault in as much as I didn't read the small print enough to realise the tickets needed at least one working day to process. (Who does this?).

It's tickets to an attraction I want to take DC to tomorrow lunchtime (rather than a show/time specific event).

I bought them yesterday lunchtime to get a slight advance discount rather than buy at the gate. Forwarded DH the email and it has a transaction ID, but doesn't actually look like tickets. Only just realised.

If I have to, I can buy on the gate but I can't afford to pay for both.

Is there any distance selling/ online selling right to cancel so I could get a refund for the online tickets? Their office isn't open on a weekend and I'm in a bit of a panic.

I have no idea, but surely they should not sell them for the following day if you can’t use them? Have they definitely not processed?

Mumdiva99 · 09/03/2024 08:20

Where is it for? Is it a local indoor play? Farm? Etc....they might be sympathetic and take the confirmation email if it shows dates and time of booking. (Surely if you were too late to book online the system shouldn't have made the ticket available....)

BlueShed · 09/03/2024 08:22

It's not a date specific ticket.

I've just read the Ts and Cs and it's saying no refunds ☹️.

Can't believe I've been such an idiot but I've never known anything like this... I buy tickets for things online all the time and they get emailed straightaway.m

It's Portsmouth Historic Dockyards, purchase of a 12 month unlimited entry ticket.

Does a 12 month ticket not mean you can just turn up whenever?

if you have some kind of email confirmation that could be enough?

FasterthanBolt · 09/03/2024 08:24

They are super helpful there, give them a ring when they open and explain, I'm sure you're not the first that's done it 😀

BlueShed · 09/03/2024 08:25

They've got an offer on to save £20, but it's a really convoluted route to get the discount, you have to sign up via the annual renewal route, even if it's your first ticket, rather than buy a new ticket from scratch. I'd had to subscribe to emails to get a link, was in a rush and a bit bamboozled by the whole process I missed the "one working day".

Check your spam. There may be a separate email with proper tickets. If there isn't ring and ask if you've received the right thing

Soozikinzii · 09/03/2024 08:26

Yes as PP said give them a ring I'm sure they'll have evidence of your payment?

BlueShed · 09/03/2024 08:26

Not in spam 🙁

If you've got some form of confirmation that you've paid and you can also show the money has left your account then I would turn up and see what they say. I can't see why they wouldn't let you in when it's obvious that you've paid for tickets?

Also don't beat yourself up, a policy of waiting one working day for online tickets is bonkers and I doubt anyone would have expected it to be anything other than an emailed QR code ticket unless very clearly stated at the time of booking.

BlueShed · 09/03/2024 08:30

Yes, I've got payment confirmation and an email from them with a transaction ID.

I've just been through the online path to purchase again and it feels like this was a workaround way of offering the £20 off without properly setting up their website. Still know it's my fault, but it's a bit annoying.

Just realised it's only 8.30! Perhaps I'll be able to get someone on the phone later.

Hopefully they will come soon.

KenAdams · 09/03/2024 08:59

Just turn up and play ignorant. I'm sure it will be fine.

BlueShed · 09/03/2024 09:02

IT's ARRIVED.

Literally just received the email with the barcodes.

Gosh I can't tell you how relieved I feel.

Ugh, had been feeling quite sick at having to pay twice.

Thanks for all the supportive messages.
